There’s a secret in an Walt Disney World Park abandoned over a decade ago. In our introductory podcast, find out why Apple and Starbucks know Disney’s secret all too well.
Show Notes:
Disney Institute Then and Now: A longer description than the one I give of the Disney Institute as it was in 1996-2002 and the one it is today.
Disney Drawing Board: Another description of the property that was the Disney Institute.
All Marketers are Liars Tell Stories: Seth Godin’s page about his book with some quick summaries from his blog.
Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration: President of Pixar and later Disney Animation Ed Catmull’s book about both the history of Pixar and their unique corporate structure which lets Pixar be so successful. Then they have to repeat it with burnt out Disney Animation staff. The last chapter of the book is Catmull’s thoughts of his business partner Steve Jobs.
Introduction of the Think Differnt Campaign: Steve Jobs introduced the Think Different/Crazy Ones ad I discuss in the podcast at a meeting at Apple that was recorded, though with pretty poor sound. I found a subtitled version on YouTube to help you get all the words. Towards the end is the actual ad.
The Crazy Ones: For those who don’t want to wade through the video above, here is just the ad.

Thank you for the link! And I really enjoyed your podcast. Great job!
thanks. Thank you for the background information. It wasn’t until my last year of going to the Disney Institute (all photography and that one Architecture class) that I bought a good camera, so I have no photos of my time there that I could find.
